"Sacred Hoop: Celebrating the Circle of Life", has published an article about shamanism and UFOs, "Spirits and UFOs: Into Other Worlds" written by Sue Jamieson and the late Dr. John E. Mack. The Sacred Hoop, a U.K. magazine dedicated to "shamanism, healing, myths, wisdom ways, and earth rituals" published the article in Issue 71, March 2011. A similar article had been previously published in the Foundation for Shamanic Studies magazine, "Shamanism."
With permission from the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, Sue Jamieson submitted the articleto Nicolas Breeze Wood, editor of Sacred Hoop, in January, 2011 who said he had not published an article about UFOs and felt it was a topic that should be explored, even though it might prove to be "too hot for the broth." Nick shortened the article a wee bit, renamed it "Into Other Worlds", and added some outstanding photographs. The March 2011 issue may be ordered from the Sacred Hoop website as a pdf download by itself or may be ordered as a printed copy sent to your mailbox.
Also in the issue are several other articles of interest (with outstanding photographs), including "The Visions of Pablo Amaringo" about Pablo Amaringo who was a Peruvian painter of ayahuasca visions. "The Power to Transform" is about an American psychotherapist, Geral Blanchard who traveled to South Africa, met the local sangoma shamans, and had his life turned upside down. "Together We Are Strong" by John Lockley, an adopted member of the Xhosa people and a trained sangoma shaman, explains why it is not easy to be a sangoma shaman. In "Dealing with Distress" Stephanie Marohn explores Malidoma Patrice Some's attitude in caring for the psychiatrically distressed. In tribal societies, being diagnosed with what we in the West call a 'mental illness' is often considered to be a sign of a connection with the spirit world. In "The Wild Eyes of the Shaman" Maria Czaplicka explains why an old saying "When spirit knocks on your door, a wise man runs" can be true about becoming a shaman in traditional Siberian cultures.
The original article by John Mack and Sue Jamieson, "Shamanic Journeys and UFO Encounters: A Consideration of Two Avenues to an Expanded Reality"was originally published by © Shamanism, Journal of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, Spring/Summer 2003, Vol. 16, No. 1. Recently, with permission from the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, a complete reprint of that article was published by editor, Peter Clark, on www.allthingshealing.com an on-line community for healing body, mind, spirit, and planet.
